Otar's hands

These are Otar's hands.  He is a man in his 80's and lives in the eastern part of Georgia (country).  His life has been spent working in his vineyard tending to the vines and making wine.  I love these hands.  They are both strong and gentle at the same time.  Here, shown at rest on a Sunday afternoon one December as we sat around the table in his yard, chickens at our feet, puppy begging for food.  We drank his wine, ate his bread and local cheese and the good things from his wife's kitchen.  A much more simple life than we live in the US.  Little things are appreciated here, hospitality means you share whatever you have without excuses for what you don't have.
