Friday must be Texas

Friday

A couple or three observations.  While still on the Natchez Trace pkwy we saw some very small deer...maybe 1/2 the size of the white tailed.  In  Louisiana, along some highways there was some cutting back or down of trees, but it looked as though a machine had been driven along beside them and just whacked away anything that protruded beyond a certain point both to the side and in height.  Last morning observation relates to the number of nurseries just southwest of Alexandria.  Not just little places but monsterous ones.  We figure these have to be places that ship plants up north.

90% of the churches are one form or another of Baptist, 9% are Church of Christ, 1% is everything else.  Where are the Lutherns?

Houston, my new number one least favorite city.  It is a city of cars and freeways and they where all out when we drove through.

Dinner in an Italian restaurant about 45 miles outside of San Antonio.  Our waitress is from Mass...her name Melissa.  Next table a younger couple with their daughter who is obviously unhappy with the choice of restaurant.  Mom took a picture with her phone and showed the "unhappy face" which then produced a small smile.

Made it through San Antonio, stopped for the night in a rest area.
