Friday 28 Sept in Kathmandu

We started our day be meeting Rajesh Shahi at Pilgrims and then walked to his program for little kids. He does a great job really rescuing children of village families who have come to Kathmandu to earn money. He works to get these very poor children a head start before they go to government school. His program helps with basic nutrition and physical as well as dental hygiene.

We spent several hours with Rajesh before heading to Fire and Ice for lunch (great pizza, ginger-lemon-honey tea for Marty T's sore throat) followed by ice cream!

Just across the street is the Garden of Dreams. A wonderful quiet place behind high walls in a very noisy part of the city. David and Marty T qualified for the 50% discount given to seniors! One needs to be 70 to qualify for the discount.

The garden was built in the 1920's patterned on formal gardens of Edwardian estates on England. The gardens fell into a state of disrepair and have been restored by an Austrizn financed group.

We thoroughly enjoyed our respite on the city's hustle and bustle before heading back to the hotel via rickshaw.
