We left the New Orleans area this morning and headed down the Mississippi delta to the Gulf and Grand Isle State Park. The only thing that separates us from the Gulf of Mexico is a levee. It is really pretty interesting and we suggest that you look this park up on a map!
Before we left the NO area we stopped for some fresh fish and picked up some Red Snapper! We'll fix that this evening the way they suggested to us....wrapped in foil, covered with onion and lemon slices.
The drive down here was interesting and toward the end there was always some water near us on one side or both of the road! We saw many houses up on stilts and basically the entire island is up on stilts here. Even the bathhouses are on stilts a good 10' off the ground! Guess they take their "water" issues seriously here.

Lots of water on both sides of us |
If you are going to protect your home from high water, this is what you do. We saw homes on stilts in Florida last year |
