If its Wednesday tomorrow will not be a travel day

David's birthday dinner was at Molly MacPherson's Scottish Pub downtown.  It is a nice place which features some traditional Scottish foods, beers and ales, and maybe more interesting to David, over 50 different scotches!  We tried Scottish eggs for the first time and they were really amazing.  The whole meal was nice topped off by decadent desserts and a sipping scotch served up "neat."

In keeping with safety first we took the bus downtown, so we didn't have worry about drinking and driving.  And with a loaner like we have, see below, we wanted to be extra careful. One of the benefits of Mercedes-Benz service is that they provide M-B loaners: it just would not be proper to offer a worn-out junker to an M-B owner!

The LaQuinta continental breakfast has a few shortcomings: such as variety.  Not that we have anything against hard boiled eggs or cold cereal except that of the two Marty only eats the egg.  Sure, one can make waffles but the syrup isn't really maple.  Swiping an apple or banana is good, but it somehow it just isn't the same as a good fruit bowl.  So, that is why we have had three breakfasts at Denny's.  Now, this is not a glowing recommendation for them either, however, they do offer choice and do have really good coffee which is a must in the morning.

The other advantage to being in a more public place like a restaurant is being able to listen to the various conversations floating over and around your heads.  Last evening at Molly's we were not really able to get away from the conversation of three folks, one man and two much younger women, who had a hard time crafting a sentence without at least one profane word.  Initially we thought it was because of the other individual they were speaking about, but as the subject changed the language did not.  Of course we were thinking of various things we could say to the women in particular about being vocabulary challenged.  These are the things that cross your mind and go unsaid.

This morning at Denny's we overheard the manager talking about how folks didn't get to choose their shift mates and if they had a problem that they could just "walk".  We were somewhat surprised that such a conversation would take place within earshot of customers.  We have had three breakfasts in this particular restaurant and have found the wait staff to be exceptional, so when we paid our bill we commented on this to the woman who checked us out and we know that it will be shared with the complaining manager.  Maybe we made her day a little nicer.

Today the parts for the camper should arrive and with any luck at all tomorrow we will be able to be on the road again heading south.  It is once again cool here with the  morning temp in the low 40s just a few degrees warmer than yesterday except that we are not dealing with rain!

We did mention that we were given a loaner....check it out above.  We have never had such a nice loaner before.  It is an Eco model which means that when we stop the engine shuts down conserving fuel until the break is released and it starts up again.  Pretty nice.

We are also in the process of becoming "techies" by way of David's birthday present from Marty...the Fitbit Charge HR wristband, which is a fitness tracking device.  It is, however, so popular in the entire US that even the company has a 3-4 week backlog!  So, Marty got the version that does not have the heart rate monitor.

The first day of use was really after dinner and overnight. One of the features is sleep monitoring which is something of interest to us both.  For Marty this was interesting because her first night's record showed her awake periods, restless periods and sleep.  She was surprised to see that she had two decent periods of three or so hours each of sleep over just over an 8-hour period.

The device also tracks steps and activity and, using her iPad, she can put in weight and track calories.  Oh yes, it is also a watch!  So, rather than needing to remember to clip on the pedometer it is all right there on her wrist and it syncs with the app on her iPad via Bluetooth.

Today, Wednesday, we're doing errands before (hopefully) hitting the road tomorrow.  We'll catch up on laundry, replenish supplies, and coordinate menus with Dee for our reunion at The Everglades.  Although we have found ways to enjoy our forced time in Savannah, it will be VERY good to be on the move again.

Wednesday Afternoon Camper Update!!

The parts for the camper did not arrive today (sigh!!); they won't arrive tomorrow either...nor on Friday but next Monday!  Seems that the weather is raising havoc with FedEx.  We are frustrated and, with a new anticipated departure from here being next Tuesday or Wednesday, we feel deflated and saddened at what is happening to the time we thought we would be enjoying with friends before arriving in the Everglades.  Our two weeks there is now reduced by at least five days.
