St Joe's SP Friday and Saturday

There was fog/mist this am and even so we decided to go to a picnic area and look at the sunrise over the bay.  We were a little doubtful about seeing anything but wee rewarded!

Even though we are on the Gulf, part of the park fronts on St Joseph's Bay so not only can you watch the sunset on the Gulf, you can see the sunrise on the bay.  It doesn't get too much better than that.

We went for a very long walk on the beach well over four miles in total and both David and Marty ended up with sunburnt tops of feet!  The walk was wonderful though as the Gulf was nearly mirror like with very small waves coming in.  We spent time watchings some loons, gulls and Pelicans fishing.  The pelicans are great for taking advantage of other birds efforts as well as being good fishers in their own right.  After we picnicked we turned around and came back and "chilled" out for the remainder of the afternoon.

Saturday Marty, Dee, and Deb got out for a bike ride early in the morning and discovered a very small donut shop.  The owner gave them a free croissant to taste and then they purchased one.  On our exit from the park on Sunday we will all stop for donuts to take on the road.

In the afternoon Paul, Deb, Trudie, marty and David all went out for a paddle in the bay.  It was a surprise to find that it was very, very shallow even well over 200' from the shore.  While paddling we spotted an eagle's nest up in one of the trees and there was an adult in the tree as well.  Pretty nice.

A word about cooking and cleaning up.  If one cooks then you are generally relieved from washing dishes.  With Deb and Trudie part of our crew in this park dishwashing looks like the scene below.

It makes doing dishes a fun process.  Joking about too much soap or not getting dishes clean enough making it the responsibility of the persons doing the drying.

Sunday, we are on our way to the Florida Caverns State Park.  On our way out of the park we saw three deer right by the road.  A nice farewell.
