Out of Sequence! This is from Thursday evening and dinner.

Sabanci Merkez Cami
After we sorted out that we would not be renting a car, and began to think more out of the box we started researching the Adana Otorgar (bus station) location and services available to areas further west from here.  By the time we decided to go out for a walk and have dinner we had the beginnings of Plan B…take a bus to one of the next towns down the coast and then explore and repeat the process.  After getting a fix on just where we were in the city we decided we could just walk down to the 16 arched stone Roman bridge built between 76 and 138 AD.  Pretty old bridge now only used by pedestrians.  We also walked over to, but not into, the Sabanci Merkez Cami which is a very new six-minuret mosque which is the largest in all of Turkey!

While walking along the river we spotted a man fishing (see photo with little bell).  He had rigged tiny bells onto his fishing lines and then was sitting back to enjoy the late afternoon breeze as well as maybe catch some fish.  I think he was amused that I wanted to take a photo of the bell and fishing line set-up.

The street we walked out on to the bridge was filled with fabric shops.  There was everything imaginable for every use imaginable.  Then when we walked back several blocks up the river, all the stores were dealing with small garden tractors!  Departmentalized city shopping is what it is.

Walking back toward the hotel we decided on dinner in a normal non-tourist type cafe where we had Adana Kebabs (which originated from here no less) and an amazing array of salads.  For 9 Turkish Lira we each had one kebab, several roasted peppers, roasted tomato and no less than six side warm and cold salads.  There was a warm peppery onion dish, cucumber in yoghurt and mint, sliced onion with parsley, sliced radish, chopped spiced tomatoes, and a green salad.  We were totally stuffed when we were done.
Our hotel, Otel Mercan

On our way back to the hotel we picked up a couple or cold ones, some wonderful Turkish cookies, and were amazed to see pink, purple, yellow, red and green dyed baby chicks being sold.  Just amazing, never seen anything like it.

When we got back to the hotel the wifi was not working so it will be tomorrow before this gets added to the blog and some of the photos get up as well.
