Last day in Shenandoah NP

We awoke on Friday morning to grayness.  Total grayness that was sweeping up and over the hills and surrounding us as we sat with our morning coffee.  The decision was made to hike, no matter the fog or cloud that we seemed to be in.  The AT behind the Lodge was really in pretty good shape with only a little snow and very little ice remaining.  We saw deer and not much else for critters.  The AT joins a service road which we took out to SkyLine Drive and then we headed back to the visitor center.  As we neared the top of the hill we spotted deer.  Then we realized it wasn't just any deer but this beautiful buck (10 pointer) who was making his way along "his" trail.  He stopped very still, made some clicking sounds, a deep exhale, some pawing of the trail in front of him and still he waited.  We heard some very faint rustling in the woods about 75' away.  Then a beautiful doe emerged, crossed the road and into the meadow.  Our ten-pointer lifted his head and majestically pranced (or so it seemed) down his trail and into the meadow as well.  What a treat to see this wonderful creature.

Saturday morning we awoke to a very cold morning.  It was 22 degress outside and all of 34 degrees in the camper.  Yes, you bet we turned up the furnace and snuggled in for our morning coffee before we headed out of the park!  Another camping adventure.
