Istanbul and Washington

We have arrived in Istanbul after several days packed with younger grand children and family.  Balmy weather in VA was a shock to our system after cold and wet snow in Maine.
Looking out the back of the shuttle train in Dulles airport.
Our flight actually left ahead of schedule from Dulles and so we arrived early in Istanbul.  Our preferred mode of getting into the city from the airport is a combination of light rail and metro.  It may be slightly slower under some circumstances but at rush our we think getting in from the airport in about an hour is not bad.

Weather here is lovely with the temps at dinner time in the upper fifties.  We are dining outside under an awning with heaters mounted overhead.  It is not too cool and not too warm and we get to see all the passersby and hear the restaurant staff do their pitch for customers.  Whatever language they hear gets that language to magically flow from their lips..Some Italians came bay and instantly there was chatter in Italian.  A French couple went by and we immediately heard French from the staff.  It is interesting and such fun.  Dinner was at the Anatolian House a slightly smaller place.

On our walk back to the hotel we, along with many others spotted a cat asleep  on the seat of a motorcycle.

Sleeping cat on motorcycle!

David's dinner

A flaming dinner, we were sitting outside and this shows the interior of Anatolian House Restaurant.

David enjoying being back in Istanbul.
