Old Town

Today we walked around the city, first going from our flat to Vake just to get the best haircuts we ever get.  On our way out we passed a small box with little rabbits for sale.  The owner is the man walking towrd the box.
And in the box there little guys.
We lunched with Judi Holtz and Marika at the Kala Restaurant in Old Town where we both had some wonderful soup.
Below is Marty's pumpkin soup!
After lunch we walked around Old Town, the area closer to the river, where we have become accustomed to seeing great change.  We once again saw more.  Mostly it is the old structures that are being replaced by new ones that don't have the same architctural integrity as the old ones.  It could be that our personal bias is showing up here, but there is a certain character in the old buildings that is lost with a sterility or coldness that the old structures did not have.

The structure above, one year ago had a building in front of it...gone now, just a big hole.  The balconied building begins to look fragile and on precarious footing.  Will it be here next year when we come?
This renovated building has acquired a beautiful fence and stunning spiral staircase on the outside.  The renovation still makes it feel more sterile but this was done several years ago so it is beginning to "age" or weather up a bit.
