Suddenly it is Saturday!

All of a sudden it is Saturday and tomorrow is our last day in Georgia!  How quickly the time has passed.

We have not blogged for a few days so it is time to catch up.  Early Monday morning we leave, which means that tomorrow is our last day to see people and to shop.

On Wednesday we had lunch with Debbie Dunn, our Maine friend who also rents the flat from us from mid September to sometime in May each year.  She is a great tenant and graciously moves to one of her friend's flats when we come.  We ate at a really lovely Indian restaurant on Agmashenebeli and then headed out for a walk.

We walked on our side (the Left Bank) of the river in order to get to the cable car.  While walking, we saw a few things that we wanted to share with you.  Below is a sign for generator repair business very near us.

David called this the house of many dormers!

Always fascinating to Marty are the small vegetable and fruit vendors and the little old ladies dressed in black.

Our walk to the cable car gave us both the opportunity for photos.  Below is the not-so-new footbridge over the river.

Just starting on our way in the cable car over the river.

Looking down the river toward the government services building and the modern bridge.

Being in the cable car gives one great views of various structures such as the Metekhi Cathedral.

Even though it was a dark day with haze, the views looking down-river are still good.

Once one disembarks from the cable car there is the commercial side of things that hits you in the face.  Vendors are waiting with things to sell, as well as others with birds such as the one below, or a parrot or a peacock - take your photo with one for a small fee.

And, if you get up toward the road from which you could access the Botanical Gardens, you have even more vendors selling everything from mulled wine to coffee (from the back of a Mercedes, no less).

We were turned away from entering the Botanical Gardens through the upper gate, and so decided to walk back to the waterfall in the gorge and then get some coffee.

The waterfalls at the bottom of the stream that flows through the Botanical Gardens.

This makes a somewhat good place to stop for this entry, we still have much more to share so will spread it out over several more entries.
