Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday

Tuesday afternoon/evening

We all piled into Paul's truck late in the afternoon and with Dee At the wheel headed up to the scenic drive.  We saw more deer than we had on our hike this morning.  Mule deer with large ears who were unconcerned with our presence.  The late afternoon light non the rocky cliffs was wonderful.  We also saw several waterfalls and scoped out the area where we will most likely hike tomorrow.

We have heard that there will be more nasty weather coming in later in the week, just at the time we are planning to head to Bryce Canyon.  Bryce is at a much higher elevation so we are thinking we might stay here longer, but will check on the weather for Bryce as well as Canyonlands and Arches tomorrow.  We need to be flexible as we don't want to get caught up in Bryce at 8000 ft with snow and temps in the 20's.

Wednesday morning/afternoon

One of many waterfalls we have seen.  (Dee's photo)
Cold and windy last night.  We awoke to 32 degrees and very clear skies.  We combined several hikes into one and were amazed at the number of other hikers there were the longer we were out on the trails!  Just mind boggling as only a few days ago we had the trails to ourselves, however the weather has turned nice and with it came the other park visitors.

We are seeing lots and lots of Mule deer.  They are handsome creatures and quite unafraid of us because no one can hunt them here.

We may be headed for a drive though of Bryce as there is more snow coming and we'll just head to Arches for a few days before we drop down into Canyonlands.  We will discuss this over dinner and probably decide what to do.  All this comes down to our potential departure from Zion tomorrow.
