Monday in the wind

Monday is here and the wind is still howling.  There are wind advisories until 3:00 pm.  We have just eaten breakfast at the Corn Crib in Shelby.  This place is an original.  Worth the stop and a return visit if we ever pass through this way again.  The process of selecting this place was based on seeing a restaurant on Google Maps.

We pulled off the highway into Shelby.  A quiet little place with an interesting gas station/store/restaurant all in one.  We went to the counter where a lady In charge said that we should order from the center column of the menu and they would call us when our breakfasts were ready.  We could pay at any time, we were told.  We chose a booth, but the gal advised us that we'd be happier in the far part of the booth area, because "The Coffee Crowd" would be in soon and that we'd  not like to be near them.  We dawdled, so she repeated the warning, saying that they'd ask lots of question and pester us.  We moved and some locals filtered in, but looked to be a likable group.  We think that she was just clearing out the booths that the locals are accustomed to use.

Adair Clean Energy Project is a very large wind generation project.  Quite a sight to see all these wind generators right in the middle of civilization...how odd, right, New Englanders would want to hide these and would protest that they were ruining their view.  Humans have been using the wind for their benefit for centuries, what is wrong with us?  These are beautiful moving sculptures that actually benefit us.

Terraced fields!  So many fields were had terracing but not like what we have seen in Lynette places and other countries.  These terraces are on the sides of hills and have almost a lip formation so that you see a gentle arc curving up at the edge.  These also wrap around subtle curves on the hills.

Wind warnings now extended until sunset!  So much wind, we have never driven in so much wind.

Remember the Burma Shave signs by the side of the road?  Saw one today in Illinois that went like this  "When gun control" "has got us down"  "criminals will" "control the town".  These were put up by a group with the web site: gunssavelife.com

We are in Danville, IL almost into Indiana.  we have holed up in a Day's Inn to be able to watch the NCAA final game.
