Windy Sunday

Sunday we are seeing a huge wind farm to our north, there must be hundreds of generators.  Smelling and seeing the cattle pens where the lots of the beef that America eats is confined to a much too small spaces to eat and get ready for market.  There are some free range cattle that would seem to be mostly cows and calves.  Sad to see cattle in these pens though, maybe one reason we just cannot bring ourselves to eat beef!  It is also very windy, mane even more than we experienced in Texas weeks ago.  It is tossing us about quite a bit and we see the big trucks shift wildly as well.

After driving is a straight line to exit Colorado, we are now driving is a straight line in Nebraska.

Got off the Interstate at N. Platte and discovered that this was an area where one could see the Sandhill Crane.  We took the recommended route for viewing and got to see hundreds and hundreds of the cranes in the cornfields!  What a sight!

We went many miles with the river near us and corn fields beside the highway filled with the cranes.  Amazing.

We have stopped for the night in the Iowa Information Center on Interstate 80.  The wind is howling and we have pretty much decided it isn't worth trying to drive further tonight.
